Lock Haven Police Department News Release June 23, 2024:

On June 22, 2024, at approximately 4:45 p.m., Lock Haven City Police responded with Fire and EMS to the Susquehanna River for two males who had been swimming and began yelling for help.

An 18-year-old male and a 22-year-old male had been swimming in the Susquehanna River between the City Beach and Riverview Park and yelled for help before going underwater. A private boat was able to rescue the 22-year-old male, who was later flown to Danville Geisinger. Rescue operations continued until the 18-year-old’s body was recovered at approximately 7:00 p.m. No further information will be released at this time.

Renovo Police Department News Release:

Criminal Mischief/Disorderly Conduct

On June 21, 2024, at approximately 10:00 p.m., Renovo Police arrested 39-year-old Denise Taylor of Renovo. Taylor was charged with propulsion of missiles onto the roadway, criminal mischief, and disorderly conduct, all 2nd and 3rd-degree misdemeanor offenses.

Throughout the day, Taylor is alleged to have destroyed numerous items inside a residence on Cedar Street in Renovo. Taylor then threw a heavy glass item and two wooden drawers out of a 2nd-floor window, landing in the street and causing alarm to a neighbor.

Taylor was uncooperative and consequently arrested before being transported to the Clinton County Correctional Facility pending preliminary arraignment. Taylor was arraigned by District Judge Heidi Wright on June 22, 2024, and was committed to the Clinton County Correctional Facility in lieu of $2,500.00 bail.

Fleeing/Attempting to Elude Police

Renovo Police have charged a 17-year-old male from Renovo with a felony count of fleeing or attempting to elude police, a misdemeanor count of recklessly endangering another person, and summary offenses of passing in a no-passing zone, driving on the right side of roadway, trespass by motor vehicle, criminal trespass, reckless driving, unregistered vehicle, uninspected vehicle and improper class of driver’s license.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred on June 20, 2024, at 4:06 p.m., beginning in the area of Renovo Road and Franklin Street in Chapman Township, where the juvenile failed to stop the motorcycle he was driving when police attempted to stop him for traffic violations. Instead, the juvenile accelerated at speeds well over the speed limit, passed a vehicle in a no-passing zone, drove on the wrong side of the road on two roadways, and nearly struck a car head-on while doing so.

The juvenile did not have the proper driver’s license, registration, or inspection for the motorcycle. The juvenile was apprehended when he went off-road and trespassed on private property. Charges are filed in Clinton County Juvenile Court.

PA State Police – Lamar News Release:

DUI

GREENE TOWNSHIP– On June 21, 2024, PSP Lamar conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Micaela Millan, 36, from Allentown. Through investigation, it was determined that Millan was under the influence of a controlled substance. Charges were filed through District Court 25-3-02.

Motor Vehicle Accident

LAMAR TOWNSHIP– On June 20, 2024, at 1:58 p.m., a two-vehicle crash occurred when a parked trailer owned by Wayne Spangler, 57, from Howard, was struck by Brian Mann, 63, from Mill Hall at about 25 mph on Long Run Road. Spangler’s trailer was parked in a private driveway of a residence along Long Run Road however, it was parked in such a manner that the rear end of the trailer protruded out into the roadway approximately 1-2 feet. Mann’s Jeep Grand Cherokee was disabled as a result of the crash. While investigating this crash, it was brought to officers’ attention that another motorist also struck this same trailer a short period of time (approximately 1 minute) before this crash occurred, according to the police report. This was handled as a separate crash. No injuries were reported as a result of either crash.

Commercial Vehicle Crash

LOGAN TOWNSHIP– On June 19, 2024, Ned Lorson, 38, from South Williamsport, was traveling east on Narrows Road when a crash occurred as he was negotiating a left curve in the road and the load contained in the 1996 Mack Truck CL 716 he was driving shifted and caused the vehicle to overturn onto its side. The vehicle sustained disabling damage as a result of the crash, and no injuries were reported.

Motor Vehicle Accident

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP—On June 19, 2024, Benjamin Haffley, 20, from Lock Haven, was traveling East on Renovo Road when he crossed the center line into the westbound lane. Michael Charcalla, 38, from North Bend, was traveling west when his vehicle was struck on the front driver’s side by Haffley. Haffley continued west, rolling onto the side of his vehicle before exiting the roadway via the south berm and coming to a final rest upright on the berm of the roadway. After the initial impact, Charcalla’s vehicle was pushed back approximately 10 feet, during which time Clyde Flaugh, 76, from Orangeville, struck Charcalla’s passenger’s side door. Both vehicles came to a final rest on the north side of the roadway. Occupants of both Haffley and Flaugh’s vehicles were able to get out of their vehicles, but Charcalla required mechanical extrication from his vehicle. Charcalla was transported from the scene and later life-flighted with serious injuries. No other injuries were reported as a result of the accident.

Retail Theft/Shoplifting

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP– On June 19, 2024, at 3:54 p.m., a retail theft occurred at Walmart in Mill Hall. The actor, identified as a 23-year-old male from Lock Haven, allegedly stole a strip steak valued at $34.42 and a pack of Duracell batteries valued at $4.97. The male actor was charged with retail theft through District Court 25-3-02.

Retail Theft/Shoplifting

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP– On June 16, 2024, at 3:00 p.m., PSP Lamar was dispatched to Walmart in Mill Hall for a report of retail theft. After investigation, a 33-year-old female from Linden was taken into custody for theft of miscellaneous items totaling $191.72. Charges were filed through District Court 25-3-02.
