Set up a YouTube family plan to become a family manager. As a family manager, you can share your YouTube Premium or YouTube Music Premium membership. You can share your membership with up to 5 other family members in your household. If you're a family member, you can join a family group to share a YouTube family plan.
Note: If you're a member of an existing Google family group, you can't purchase a YouTube family plan. Only the manager of your family group can make the purchase.
Things to know before you start
- Family members sharing a YouTube family plan must live in the same household as the family manager. Learn more about family group requirements and what to do if you encounter errors while setting up your family plan.
- You can only change family groups once every 12 months.
- Each family member's name, photo, and email address will be shared with the group.
- If you need help with your YouTube TV family plan, you can get in touch with support at any time.
- If you have an annual plan, you'll have to wait until your plan expires before upgrading to a family plan.
- If you have an individual plan and would like to join a family plan instead, you'll need to first cancel your individual plan and then join the family plan.

Family managers: Sign up & create a family group
New YouTube Premium or Music Premium members
To get started, pick a family manager who is 18 or older. The family manager is the only person who can purchase a family plan or make membership decisions. Learn more about signing up for aYouTube paid membership.
To sign up for a YouTube Premium or Music Premium membership & create a family group:
- To sign up for a YouTube Premium membership & create a family group, go to https://www.youtube.com/premium/family on a web browser. To sign up for a YouTube Music Premium membership & create a family group, go to https://www.youtube.com/musicpremium/family on a web browser.
- Click Get family plan. If you're eligible for a family plan trial, you may see an option to start a trial.
- If you're the family manager of an existing Google family group, you'll see a dialog confirming your family group. Select Continue to proceed with the purchase and share your family plan with members of your existing family group. If step 3 does not apply to you, skip to step 4.
- If you don't already have a Google family group, follow the steps to purchase your subscription first. Then you'll be guided through the process of creating a family group.
Note: If you're having trouble signing up for a family plan, it may be because you have several Google Play payments profiles. If so, learn how to update or switch your country/region profile.
Existing YouTube Premium or Music Premium members
To upgrade your individual YouTube Premium or MusicPremium membership to a family plan:
- Go to youtube.com/paid_memberships on a web browser.
- Click Get family plan.
- Click Get family plan again.
- Click Upgrade.
- Set up your Google family group.
- Are you the family manager of an existing Google family group? Select Continue to proceed and share your family plan with members of your existing family group.
- Are you creating a Google family group? To set up a family group:
- Invite up to five family members to join your family group, and send them invitations via email or text.
- Select Send.
- Family members will get an invitation, and can select Get started to confirm their account.
- Family members who accept your invitation will join the family group and have access to your family plan.
- Are you a family member of an existing Google family group? You can't purchase a YouTube family plan, but you can ask your family manager to make the purchase.
Notes:
- Special offers are not transferable to YouTube family plans. If you upgrade to a family plan during a trial that's longer than 1 month, your trial will be shortened to 1 month. If later you cancel, you can't go back to your trial. Learn more about updating your YouTube paid membership.

Family managers: Add or remove family members
Add family members
If you're the family manager, you can invite up to 5 family members to your family group.
Add a family member:
- Sign in to the Google Account associated with your YouTube Premium or Music Premium membership.
- Go to youtube.com/paid_memberships on a web browser.
- Select Manage membership .
- Click Edit next to Family sharing settings.
- Select Invite family member.
- Enter the email address or phone number of the person you want to invite.
- Select Send. You'll get an email notification when someone joins your family.

Remove family members
If you're the family manager, you can remove people from your family group at any time.
Remove a family member:
- Sign in to the Google Account associated with your YouTube Premium or Music Premium membership.
- Go to youtube.com/paid_memberships a web browser.
- Select Manage membership.
- Click Edit next to Family sharing settings.
- Select the name of the person you want to remove.
- Click Remove member.
Things to know:
- The family member you've removed will lose access to your YouTube family plan, but will still keep their Google Account.
- They'll get an email notification letting them know they've been removed. Other family group members will also be notified.
- They can't access any services shared by your family group.
- If your family uses the Google Play store: You'll still be charged for any pending purchases made by the removed family member. You can request a refund for unwanted or accidental purchases.
- If your family uses the Google Playstore: The removed family member will lose access to shared Google apps and services that other family members have added to your Google Play Family Library. Any content they've added to the Family Library willalso be removed, and all family members will lose access to that content.

Cancel your paid membership
You can cancel your YouTube paid membership at any time. When you cancel, you'll still have access to your paid membership until the end of your monthly billing cycle. After that, all family members will lose access to the paid membership, but will still keep their Google Accounts.

If the family manager with a paid membership has invited you to join the family group, you'll get an email or text invitation. Follow the instructions in the invitation to join the family group.

Leave a family group or get an individual YouTube paidmembership

- Follow the instructions to leave your family group.
- Sign up for your own YouTube paid membership.
Note: If you leave your family group, you can accept an invitation to join a different family group or create your own group. You can only switch families once every 12 months. If you leave a family group and join a new one, you can't join another family group for 12 months.

Family plan location requirements
To be eligible to share a YouTube family membership, each family members must live at the same residential address as the family manager. Every 30 days, an electronic check-in will confirm this requirement.
Having trouble setting up your family plan? If you're encountering an error message that:
- "Family is not supported"
Or
- "Country is not supported"
The country/region listed in your Google Pay account might not match your current location.
Update your Google Pay profile to match your current location, and continue setting up your family plan.
If a family member's country/region location doesn't match your location, they can't join the family group.
